Gaming
I'm a fan of Roguelikes, FPS games, RPGs, and co-op games where everyone has a laugh.
I'm always up to have a chat about anything tech related and love learning more about how technologies work.
Hello! I'm Jeffrey, a student in my 3rd semester of the Software Development (Co-op) program at College of the North Atlantic (CNA).
Straight out of highschool I started and subsequently graduated the Computing Systems Engineering Technology (Co-op) program at CNA where I learned about fundamental engineering concepts, electrical circuit analysis and construction, soldering, computer networking, game development, and software development.
Playing video games from a young age and getting access to a PC early on led me down the path of becoming interested in all things tech.
That interest naturally taught me how to fix many issues and as a result I've always been the friend/family member that others go to for help with tech.
I've been learning a plethora of tech and science related info ever since I had access to my first PC.
Currently I self host a number of Minecraft servers for friends on a Linux system I have running Fedora using GNU Screen.
The vast majority of my interaction with the server PC is through SSH which has made me fairly comfortable navigating a system using the CLI.
My plan is to swap the server start scripts to tmux, migrate each server into their own Docker container, and set up a management panel for all of them.
I spent 8 years rowing at the St. John's Rowing Club and was on the Newfoundland & Labrador national team (Team NL).
During my time rowing I had the opportunity to travel to a number of rowing clubs outside NL and compete in their regattas:
| • | North Star Rowing Club | Dartmouth - Nova Scotia (x3) |
| • | The Olympic Basin | Montréal - Québec |
| • | Henley Island | St. Catherines - Ontario |
| • | Buffalo Yacht Club | Buffalo - New York |
| • | Kenora Rowing Club | Kenora - Ontario (2017 Winnipeg Canada Games) |
The training required to prepare for the Canada Games helped me build discipline. In the months leading up to the games we were doing 12 practices a week split between rowing and going to the gym.
I'm a fan of Roguelikes, FPS games, RPGs, and co-op games where everyone has a laugh.
I enjoy the process of solving challenging problems and creating software solutions.
I love learning about anything and everything tech, especially the intersection with science.
